Let's Talk About.... Clementine

My lovely friend Lesley’s youngest daughter Ellie became lifelong best buddies with our youngest daughter Jojo, soon after we moved to Somerset when they were 3 going on 4. With both of them being the youngest of larger than the average family, they bonded over the ability to go with the flow and didn’t always need to compete with their older siblings.

When Ellie had a bit of a bedroom makeover, I was asked to shorten some ready made curtains, the colour of which reflected Ellie’s sunny nature. The off cuts were added to the pile for who knows what project.

And here we are 20 years later with primrose yellow Clementine and Ellie’s curtain fabric with their zingy lime green, highlighting the daisy flowers with orange centres and pink hearts. I decided the sheep and pig motifs were perhaps a step too far though.

Ellie and Jo are now responsible grown ups. Jo a scientist and Ellie a doctor.

My Jo, Josephine, has now married Joe, Joseph, having been inseparable for the last 10 years. Ellie also has a brother called Joe, and my son-in-law Joe has a sister called Ellie. It all just makes me chuckle.
