Let's Talk About..... Elsie

Elsie is dinky. She is what you might call a cropped jacket with 3 quarter length sleeves. The fabric I have chosen for her reflects her smallness by using small flowers in various shades of blue.

This particular blue fabric is a left-over from a previous project. It was passed on to me by my lovely SIL Miriam. Miriam was tasked with re-homing some of her grandmothers things, so knowing that I’m unable to refuse such gifts, several bags of fabric came my way. I never met Miriam’s grandmother but she sounded like an interesting person. She enjoyed making her own clothes. They could be any colour as long as they were blue. Consequently I now have a healthy amount of blue fabric in my collection.

The colour blue is calm, reliable, and stable, and is more than just a colour. It is also an emotion that you feel, a part of your mood. You also can be ‘in the pink’, and you can ‘paint the town red’. Very different colours, with very different emotions.

Blue is a colour we wear all the time. Just imagine how many pairs of blue jeans we’ve all had over the years. We practically ignore the colour and treat it as neutral, wearing them with any coloured top. And that’s the beauty of a jeans jacket, it blends seamlessly with any outfit. Now with an added flare and pizazz!
