Let's Talk About.... Piper

Piper is a faded light blue denim jacket, giving off a summer vibe. So a summery fabric was needed.

Middle daughter Rosie enjoyed clothes, especially in her teenage years. We spent many summers visiting the North Devon coast to Croyde, and the girls loved the surfy look, being kitted out with wet suits, body boards and hired surf boards. It was also the time of Harry Potter, and the excitement of the next book being released, so there was a lot of reading on the beach, while waiting for the tide to turn.

This fabric came from one of Rosie’s favourite summer dresses. She must have been about 14, and when she no longer wore it I kept it for the fabric. Too pretty to pass on. I remember us buying it on a shopping spree in Bath, in one of those surfy clothes shops, possibly Quicksilver, and daughters Charlie and Rosie both bought themselves some Vans shoes, their pride and joy. It was a halter-neck, so bare shoulders, and a small skirt with pockets. It suited her with her long blonde hair, completing the look.

We all enjoyed going to Croyde camping, first in tents, then we inherited a V.W. campervan. We went 6 years on the trot, and met up with Hubby’s brother and family every year, and all the cousins loved spending time together.

After a break of not going for a few years, we went back and we all thought it had lost it’s magic. Time to move on.
